Abi & Alex

Abi & Alex were married at the wonderful Easton Grange in Suffolk on the 9th September 2023.

I first heard from Alex in August 2022 when they purchased the Autumn box of cake samples and enquired about a 3 tier cake for their big day. It was so lovely to first meet them when they collected their samples, also discovering that they only lived a few roads away! They loved their cake samples and wanted to book in straight away. This was also just in time before I went on my maternity leave. Maternity leave wasn't very long for me admittedly. I think I had 6 weeks off completely, and then I got back to admin!

In the April of 2023 we scheduled a face to face consultation to discuss everything about the cake. They had fell in love with Easton Grange and preferred to have a smaller number of guests attend their wedding. A small 3 tier cake would not be a problem. We were soon talking about the rustic element to their wedding theme and how a semi-naked cake design would fit in nicely.

Semi-naked designs are well suited to Easton Grange - a modern barn venue in the middle of rural Suffolk. Alex and Abi decided they would like to use faux flowers on their cake and for them to match the colours of their table flowers. I was given the chance to create an arrangement of my choosing (I love this!). I could not wait to create a lovely side cascade and what a lovely deep red colour they had chosen. Personalisation was important to them, so I added a cake topper and an engraved log stand that could be kept for use in their home - a perfect keepsake and memory of their wedding day.

I have actually created a reel of myself setting up their wedding cake - click here to see it?

I remember the wedding day clearly because waking up that morning the weather forecast was predicting 30 degree heat - never a good sign for cakes (and not always comfortable for a wedding day). But despite this, Easton Grange always display wedding cakes in their piano bar and it stays relatively cool in there.

Abi and Alex opted for carrot cake, cherry bakewell and biscoff flavours (great choices!) and I made sure there were spare slices put in a take home box! This is something I offer for every couple. You can choose how many and what flavour slices you'd like to have kept aside and I will inform the venue/coordinator, providing a little labelled take home box. This guarantees you get to have some of your wedding cake. Surprisingly, and quite often, couples are so busy talking to guests, dancing or just plain enjoying themselves and end up miss out on their cake. I often suggest keeping the whole top tier to take home too!

It was an absolute pleasure to create this cake for Abi and Alex. A lovely inspiration for a rustic but elegant theme for a wedding cake and of course, incorporating florals - which is my favourite part!

Thanks to LNZ Photo & Film for sharing the gallery - it is always wonderful to see the photos from the day.
